One of the best family vacations you can have with your family is camping. You may be surprised how many beautiful places there are to camp close to your home that would make great weekend getaways. There are many places such as National Parks, State Parks, and National Forest Service campgrounds that are near your home that you can explorer with your family. In today's world it seems that the kids are in their own rooms text messaging friends all night long, your on the computer and your spouse is watching TV. The only time many families see each other is when their getting the take out food to take to the respective room.

Camping is a great way to leave all the technology behind and to spend time together as a family. You don't need to own a half million dollar motorhome to take the family camping. We started out in a tent that leaked, graduated to a tent trailer and now own a travel trailer. We have gone from just overnight trips to up for two weeks.

There are many camping guides to help you find campgrounds in your area. There are primitive camping spots with no amenities on public lands up a dirt road to private campgrounds that have swimming, playgrounds and planned activities.
